Job Description:

Position: Finance Director

Hiring Range: $85,563.63 – $100,251.42 depending on experience and qualifications; 2080 hours/year

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferable, in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration, or a related field 
  • Ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and supervisory skills in both public finance administration and in the management of different departments of municipal government.  The City is seeking a candidate who understands the different facets of municipal government and has managed other municipal government departments/divisions
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) accreditation preferable 
  • Designation as a Certified Government Finance Officer by the Government Finance Officer Association of the United States and Canada or affiliated state chapter preferable
  • Valid driver’s license

Job Duties

The Finance Director plans, organizes, and directs the City’s financial management program, confers with and makes recommendations to the City Manager regarding municipal financial matters, and performs related work as required. The Finance Director serves as the chief financial officer for the City and reports to the City Manager. Participates in the general accounting, investment, audit, banking, and debt management functions of the City. Responsible for ensuring legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions. Exercises supervision over general accounting, account receivables/collection, payroll, and utility billing system business licensing, fund investments, budget development, and debt management. Must exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to work effectively with diverse stakeholder groups. Must demonstrate leadership abilities to aide in the development of personnel and to motive members to achieve the desired goals of the City’s Mission Statement and Core Values. 

Eligible candidates will successfully complete the selection process, a driver’s license and criminal background check, and a pre-employment medical and psychological evaluation.
