The City of Beaufort, South Carolina (pop 14,000) is seeking an innovative Director of Finance. This position is currently open due to the upcoming retirement of the Director of Finance who has served the city for over 10 years. Beaufort is located in the Low Country of South Carolina, approximately 35 miles from Hilton Head. The City serves as a regional center for retail, medical services, and tourism and boasts a diverse economic and employment base.
The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial management of the City and reports to the City Manager. The Director’s responsibilities include accounting, financial reporting, and investing of City funds. Other responsibilities include reporting on performance measures, producing the City’s budget documents, monthly and quarterly financial monitoring and reporting, fiscal forecasting and planning, and financial and policy analysis. The City’s current FY 2022 annual budget is $23 million.
The City employs 180 employees. The City also provides a competitive benefits package including participation in the South Carolina Retirement System.
Salary Range $84,000 to $132,000 (depends on qualifications and experience).
