Job Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is advanced, specialized work involving the independent application of bookkeeping
principals for the maintenance of accounting and fiscal records as well as payroll and
benefits. Work is performed under administrative direction of and is reviewed by the
Finance Director. This position reports to the Finance Director.

-Act as Benefits Administrator with knowledge of all aspects of employee benefits.
Enroll employees in insurance and retirement benefits, inclusive of SC PEBA (Public
Employee Benefit Authority). Perform all new hire and termination paperwork as
required. Able to interact and communicate effectively with employees.

-Assist with the processing of bi-monthly payroll.

-Maintain vacation and sick leave records.

-Reconcile billings for group insurance, retirement and workers compensation; assist with
quarterly and annual reports.

-Assist with maintenance of daily deposit process and preparation of bank reconciliations.

-Assist with accounts payable processing.

-Assist with financial reporting and budget monitoring presented monthly to the Board.
Perform variance analysis and make adjusting journal entries.

-Assist with year-end financial statement audit and provide auditors with information
needed for timely completion of the annual audit.

-Support the Finance Director in the preparation of annual budgets and financial reports
for management and oversight bodies including preparation of financial forecasts.

-Assist with management of capital project accounting, grant reporting, and utility billing
support as needed.

-Collaborate with departments to support financial planning, billing and procurement
processes.

-Ensure compliance with applicable government accounting standards (e.g., GASB) and
maintain accurate documentation and retention practices.

-Performs other related duties as assigned.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Ability to prepare financial reports and statements in accordance with generally accepted
accounting principles (GAAP).

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and with
other employees.

Ability to keep schedules and meet deadlines.

High attention to detail.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Experience with benefits and payroll. High level of confidentiality and understanding of
insurance and payroll related deductions.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field from an accredited college or
university.

A minimum of 3 years’ accounting experience preferably in governmental or public
accounting.

Possess or ability to obtain CPA.

Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Salary commensurate with experience.
