Scholarships

The Government Finance Officers Association of South Carolina (GFOASC) is a non-profit organization that promotes the professional development of its members by providing a forum for the exchange of information related to all aspects of government finance, and by recommending and supporting improvements to the financial scholarship2administration of all governmental units in South Carolina. The membership includes employees of the State, City, and County Government, Colleges and Universities, and School Districts. By establishing and awarding scholarships the GFOASC provides financial assistance to students and professionals seeking or engaging in a career in government finance.

The Willa S. Bellamy Scholarship will provide assistance to a student who attends a South Carolina public four-year college or university.

The Founding Fathers Scholarship will provide assistance to a student who attends a South Carolina public two-year college or university.

The Presidents Scholarship will provide assistance to a student who attends a South Carolina public high school.

The Katherine Zook Certification Program Scholarship will provide assistance to a GFOASC member seeking to further their professional development by taking part in the Government Finance Officers Certification Program. It will cover the costs of registration fees and books for the five certification courses. The applicant must be (1) a member (regular or agency) of the GFOASC; (2) an employee of the State, County, City, College or University, Special Purpose or School District entity; and (3) new enrollee into the certification program.

Willa S. Bellamy Scholarship – $2,000

Submission Deadline: The applications must be received on or before April 7, 2024.

Notification of Award: This scholarship will be awarded by May 1, 2024. 


Founding Fathers Scholarship – $1,500

Submission Deadline: The applications must be received on or before April 7, 2024.

Notification of Award: This scholarship will be awarded by May 1, 2024. 


Presidents Scholarship – $1,250

Submission Deadline: The applications must be received on or before April 7, 2024.

Notification of Award: This scholarship will be awarded by May 1, 2024.


Katherine Zook Certification Program Scholarship

Submission Deadline: The applications must be received on or before June 30, 2024.

Notification of Award: This scholarship will be announced at the GFOASC Fall Conference in October 2024. The recipient will be notified by August 1.
