Business Services Coordinator

The person in the position should have the following credentials:
1. Bachelor’s degree preferred in accounting, finance, business administration
2. Five or more years of experience in governmental accounting
3. Five or more years of experience as a supervisor preferred
4. Strong communication and organizational skills
5. Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word and financial software programs

Reports To:
This person is directly responsible to the Director of Business Services


Pupil Activity Accountants (2), Permanent Sub Bookkeepers (3), Financial Accountant, Financial Analyst, and Accounting Assistant

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and coordinate with the Pupil Activity Accountants all instruction and training of school bookkeepers; recommend policy, procedures and technology to maintain efficiency and internal controls; review activity by site inspections and reporting techniques

  2. Coordinate with the Internal Audit Department and External Auditors to insure that requested information is available for pupil activity fund audits, facilitate management’s response to audit recommendations and monitor progress of the implementation of management’s responses

  3. Present Student Activity Fund guidelines/procedures to principals and teachers

  4. Supervise Fixed Asset/Inventory accounting for the District

  5. Supervise and schedule sub bookkeepers for locations as needed

  6. Supervise the Financial Analyst and manage associated projects including vendor data base maintenance, cash

    flow, membership counts, state reporting, and the District’s online payment program

  7. Bank administrator to include initiating ACH transfers, wire transfers, internal transfers between accounts, assigning security levels to employees, monitoring balances in the non-operating accounts and reviewing bank charges

  8. Assist with CAFR preparation

  9. Review monthly collateral pledged for all banks associated with the district

  10. Assist with the District purchasing card and E-pay programs

  11. Manage and disburse Teacher Supply Reimbursement funds

  12. Coordinate yearly training provided by the Business Services Department

  13. Coordinate with the Finance Officer to support accounts payable and general ledger as needed

  14. Assist with activities involving debt financing to include: TANs, BANs and General Obligation Bond issuances, arbitrage requirements and financial statements

  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

Terms of Employment:
Twelve Months with salary in Group J, Administrative/Supervisory Salary Schedule. ($62,861 - $93,786)

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Greenville County School Board of Trustees’ Policy.
